Bill Weiss

Painter

"I awoke three days ago wondering, 'What is the type of work I should be doing in this time of pandemic and Trump?'"

Where are you currently?

I'm an NYC painter, at present happily stranded in rural California.

Has your art making shifted in response to the pandemic? How?

I awoke three days ago wondering , "What is the type of work I should be doing in this time of pandemic and Trump?" At first, the idea came that political protest imagery (Trump) of fear, death, some kind of apocalyptic image (pandemic). This didn't seem appropriate. Then I thought, it should be a big picture type image, an image from a serene, cosmic conscious state of mind. That would be most appropriate. I'm working on it...to be continued.

Bill Weiss is a self-taught painter working in NYC. He is represented in New York by the Elizabeth Harris Gallery. See more of his work here
