"It's all of a 'journal of the plague year.'"
Tell us about what you're currently working on.
I continue to do large drawings on prepared papers which I began in October 2019. In addition I've begun a series of small paintings that feature food and its preparation.
Has your work shifted in response to the pandemic? How?
It seems everything I complete now is related to the current situation only because with my signature the date stands out. Some of my work has begun to acknowledge the pandemic - I can't ignore or deny it. It's all of a "journal of the plague year."
How do you think the creative process can help us confront our "new" reality?
The activity of doing my work is contemplative, spiritual and reaffirming. I am grateful to be able to do it and will never stop. Daily, little has really changed - my life's work has been the fight to remain in my studio.
